About the International Forestry Students’ Association (IFSA)
IFSA is a student-run organization that represents a network of more than 2,000 students and alumni. It is the largest organization for forestry students worldwide with about 75 local committees at universities on five continents. IFSA’s vision is to foster global cooperation among students of forest sciences to broaden knowledge and help to create a sustainable future for our forests while providing a voice for youth in international forest policy processes.
IFSA seeks to continually improve forestry education by broadening students’ outlook of forestry to a global scale. IFSA informs members about international conferences related to forestry, political meetings, and employment and learning opportunities. When possible, IFSA tries to find financial support for member students to attend international events. IFSA is a platform for forestry students to enrich their education and cultural understanding by working closely with professional organizations involved with forest management, policy, and research.
For the IUFRO World Congress, IFSA is coordinating networking opportunities, workshops, student awards sessions, and opportunities for students to present their research. If you are interested in sponsoring an IFSA event or attendance by an IFSA student, please contact Ms. Lisa Hansen, head of the IFSA-IUFRO World Congress Commission at hansen.lisa.c@gmail.com.

About the Society of American Foresters (SAF)
SAF is the national scientific and educational organization representing the forestry profession in the United States. Founded in 1900 by Gifford Pinchot, it is the largest professional society for foresters in the world. The mission of the Society of American Foresters is to advance the science, education, technology, and practice of forestry; to enhance the competency of its members; to establish professional excellence; and, to use the knowledge, skills, and conservation ethic of the profession to ensure the continued health and use of forest ecosystems and the present and future availability of forest resources to benefit society. SAF is a nonprofit organization meeting the requirements of 501 (c) (3). SAF members include natural resource professionals in public and private settings, researchers, CEOs, administrators, educators, and students.
SAF has state and local chapters, many of which are affiliated with a university. Students have a strong presence in the society. Recognizing that its student members are future forest practitioners, land managers, researchers, and policymakers, SAF is committed to ensuring student members gain valuable experience in their fields.
